(10 April) We got our quarterfinal rounds of the US Amateur Cup played this past weekend. The 2017 regional and national defending champion Christos FC of Maryland was ousted at home by the Rochester Rivers Dogz Reserves of Western New York 2:1. They will host Junior Lone Star FC of Eastern Pennsylvania who defeated ASF Select of Metro DC-Virginia 4:1. Fasih Nooran put ASF in the lead in the 28th minute. Man of the match Joshua Chelleh scored two quick goals to end the half and give the result to Junior Lone Star. Kouassi N'Guessan and Anthony Allison sealed the victory scoring their goals in the 85th and 90th minute. In the northern bracket, Lansdowne Bhoys FC of Eastern New York shutout Southie FC of Massachusetts 2:0. Their semifinal opponent will be Brick Lions FC of New Jersey, 4:2 victors over Newtown Pride FC of Connecticut. Kevin O'Conner hit a brace with goals coming from Sean Casey and Chris Katona. The semifinals are set for 7 May.
Up next is the Werner Fricker Cup quarterfinals on 23 May. Lansdowne will travel to Massachusetts to meet Kendall Wanderers FC. The other bracket quarterfinal features FC Motown of New Jersey who will host FSA Inter of Connecticut. On the southern side, Hammers FC of Metro DC-Virginia will greet Clarence Coyotes of Western New York while Christos has Junior Lone Star coming for a visit. The winners will play the semifinals of this open competition on 14 May.
